Frequently Asked Questions

frequently asked questions

Q. How far will you travel for each photoshoot?

A. The session fee for these bespoke photoshoots is based on venues in and around my home of Speen, near High Wycombe and the surrounding Chiltern area. However, if you have somewhere further afield in mind, like a beach location, please do give me a call and we can discuss. Mileage will be charged at 40p per mile outside a twenty mile radius of Speen.

Q. How long is the session?

A. The photoshoot session will take approximately one and half to two hours, this includes ample time for me to meet and greet both you and your horse, carry out a quick location recce, for me to pick out the perfect backdrops and it also gives you time for an outfit change if required throughout the shoot and yet not too long that your horse gets restless or bored.

Q. What do I need to wear?

A. I recommend casual to smart country wear, something comfortable and something you feel good in; jeans, boots and a casual 'going out' top is always a good starting point. Alternatively, you might want a more sophisticated look and opt for that Prom outfit or even a post wedding day styled shoot in your gown. For a natural look, muted tones and plain to subtle patterned articles of clothing work best - accessories always look nice too e.g. hats, scarves, jewellery.

Q.  What about my horse?

A. Your horse wants to be looking it's best too, so clean tack is a must; a leather bridle or head-collar always looks the smartest and if using, a neutral coloured lead-rope or one to match what you are wearing is recommended.

Q. Do I need to bring anything with me?

A. Ideally a friendly helper, somebody who can keeps your horse's attention, whether it be with a bucket of favourite titbits, a handful of luscious grass or a tupperware container with gravel in for them to shake. If you've selected more than one outfit then also bring a change of clothes.

Q. If it rains on the day will you cancel?

A. If the forecast is looking horrendous then we can postpone and reschedule; cameras and rain as with drenched owners and unhappy horses do not work well together.

Q. How many images will you take?

A. There will be lots, with a minimum of thirty-fifty depending on your session choice, which will all be lightly edited before you come to view them.

Q. How will I view my photographs?

A. Approximately a week to ten days after your photoshoot, an appointment will be made for you to view your images in a slideshow presentation at my home address. The slideshow will give you the opportunity to visualise the imagery in a relaxed and informal environment. Prior to this, you will be sent an email with a pdf of proofs, plus a link to a private Dropbox folder if required.

Q. What happens next?

A. You select the images you would like. You may feel a bit daunted and perhaps uncertain initially about which images to choose or even how best to display them once you get home. Please don't worry, I will do my best to help and guide you through the elimination and selection process. You can also take the opportunity to look at my sample products so that you will know exactly how fabulous your print(s) will look.

Q. How much are your prints and what other products do you offer?

A. A pdf of my current product/price list is available and can be emailed to you, together with confirmation of booking. Periodically, I receive special offers from suppliers on my products, which I always like to pass on to my clients.

Q. How long do you keep my images?

A. Your images, along with all those I take from these sessions, are backed up and stored on external hard drives for safe-keeping forever.

Q. How can I order products for you?

A. In person, at the time of viewing, is the preferred method; orders received over the phone require confirmation by email. I also offer a 10% discount if you order within two weeks of receiving your proofs; this discount will be donated to The Mouth Cancer Foundation.

Q. When do I pay you?

A. A 50% (non-refundable) deposit is required at the time of booking in your session. Payment to be made by bank transfer or in cash please. The balance is due one week prior to the photoshoot. Payment in full is required for all orders placed at the time of placing order.

Q. When can I expect my order?

A. Estimated delivery time is ten to fourteen days, at which time I will make contact with you to arrange collection from my home address. Alternatively, I can arrange for a courier service, which will be charged at an extra cost.
